Firefox crashes during "refresh firefox" after clean install
Firefox crashes while loading about 1 page in 10. When a page causes the crash, it does so repeatedly. I've gone through the support docs associated with the crashes and don't know what else to do. Did I miss anything?
-A clean install had no effect. -Firefox Safe Mode still exhibits the crash. -The problem has existed for several versions. (I was hoping it was a known problem.) -The "refresh firefox" procedure actually provokes the same crash behavior. -removing the profile.js file had no effect.

Chosen solution
Flash was the problem. Disabling the Shockwave Flash Plugin allows access to sites that would formerly crash the browser. Reinstalling flash seems to fix the problem.
Thanks so much for the help!

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,
In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.
If you can't get Firefox to open, you will have to do this the hard way. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Note: You may have to enable Show Hidden Folders / Files. Enter this in the address bar;
Windows: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win 7/Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win XP/2000: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted
Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted Linux: /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted
Copy the last 5-7 Recent File Names in the folder. Post the information in the reply box below.
FredMcD,
Thanks so much for the suggestions.
1.) Firefox loaded successfully problem sites in safe mode! 2.) The crash reporter doesn't seem to be recording these crashes. I've included the only one log since the problem started, but I'm concerned that this may be a different crash cause since the Firefox Health Report reports 23 crashes this month.

Any other thoughts?
Actions that provoke this crash:
1) Browsing a webpage that will always provoke the crash like www.forbes.com 2) Trying to restart with add-ons disabled 3) Trying to refresh Firefox.
Booting to safe mode fixes at least crash #1.
As to that old crash report, check this:
- see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
- disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround
- disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I tried your Forbes link and had no problem. Please try this;
This is not a cure, but should let the web page load without crashing.
Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it
1.)Flash block extension did not keep the Forbes site from crashing. 2.)Disabling hardware acceleration broadly in Firefox did not help. 3.)Disabling webGL did not help. 4.)I can't perform the final flash troubleshooting as the flash settings page crashes Firefox on the affected computer. https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html#main_Find_Flash_Player_version_type_and_capabilities__Flash_developers_only_
