The text on some website is so light I can hardly read it and refreshing FF does not help
I have an old Toshiba satellite laptop that is running win 7 and FF 42.0. I have always had a problem with the text on certain web pages (including the text I'm typing right now) being so light that I can hardly read it. I can't include a screen shot because I don't seem to have Paint on this computer. Does anyone know how I could remedy this? Thank you.

There are two sets of settings. The current web page/site, and global (all web pages/sites). Press the icon shown, and there you have it. All settings will be saved on a per-site basses.

Taking a Screen shot; Windows > Start > search box > Snip. Select Snipping Tool.
Save the picture(s) to your desktop. Now look at the Reply box below. Press the button under it that says Browse. Now select the screen shot(s) from the desktop and load them one at a time.
Type about:preferences#content<enter> in the address bar. Across from fonts and colors, press the Advanced button. On the bottom, turn on Allow Web Sites To Choose Their Own.
NoSquint {web link} NoSquint allows you to adjust the text-only and full-page (both text and images) zoom levels as well as color settings both globally (for all sites) and per site.
1. the 'allow websites to choose their own' is already checked. 2.I've used the snip tool and tried to upload the image several times but i can't tell if it worked because everything is so greyed out.
Will you try NoSquint?
sorry - forgot to say ,,, i added on nosquint. i can see how to make things bigger, but i haven't figured out how to make text darker. i'm slow at figuring out software. will post once i've figured it out. thank you to both of you
I can't for the life of me figure out how to find the nosquint icon - it's not on the status bar - can you help?
Also, I realize that part of what's so greyed out are field borders and instructions. for example, the star icon in gmail is virtually invisible - i have to wave my cursor over where i think it is until I hit on it at which point there is a very, very faint blue outline. The same is true just finding the reply box on this page. Until I find it and start typing, I couldn't see it except that I knew it was under the formatting icons. thank you.
i figured out how to click on the colors through tools and add-ons. i still can't see the star in gmail, but i'll try this out for a while and see how it goes. thank you for your help.

i just don't have that icon. i can't tell from your web shot where in the window the icon is, but i know it's nowhere on mine.
Type about:customizing<enter> in the address bar. In the new window, look for the icon. When you find it, hold down the left button on it, and move it to where you want it to be. You can move any of the icons you want from here, but some icons are locked in place.
ok, i did that but i still don't see the icon that you have. i've used the snipping tool and am uploading a shot of the icons that about:customizing shows. thanks you for your continued help and patience :-)
Check this page. Also, there is an e-mail contact at the bottom.
did you post a link?
Sorry, my bad. https://urandom.ca/nosquint/
Isn't that an icon added by another extension (i.e. not by NoSquint) as is looks different to me?
which icon are you speaking of?
Sorry, I was talking to Fred about the toolbar icon he was mentioning.
That is the icon I use.
