Can't Receive or Send or save messages - check server capabilities
I'm on Thunderbird 38.3.0. I cannot receive or send any messages. Alll settings are correct. I disabled all add-ons. I tried to find an updated version by version number but only provided with "big button" for exciting new features (unreleased) and beta, both of which are not a solution. Following information I found online, I disabled some RSA requirements in settings, no help. Is there a solution for this? Is it a previous release, if so please just put a link in any response. I can't spend more time on this and can't believe how catastrophic this is. I'm only experiencing this on my Mac, my phone (using a different client) and PC Thunderbird appear to be working. Please help.

I cannot receive or send any messages.
What does this mean? What happens when you're trying to send a message? Do you get any error message?
Alll settings are correct.
Then everything should work, shouldn't it?
Can you post your Troubleshooting Information for both, your Mac and PC Thunderbird?
At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help, and then Troubleshooting Information.
Press the Copy text to clipboard button and paste the information into your reply.
Thanks for your response. The comment "everything should work" was exactly why I'm asking for help. I thought that went without saying.
My original request for help, the message "Checking Server Capabilities" appeared in the bottom right of the Thunderbird window. Thunderbird was non-responsive to "New Message". Now, I can open a window for a new message, compose it, then see a pop up:
Send Message Error Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Could not get password for smtp.gmail.com. The message was not sent. Neither will Drafts save.
Based on the original information I sent, this looks like a login or authentication error on one of 3 servers (3 send, 3 receive). New messages will not download either, the message at the bottom now says: Login to "server name", then times out to "Checking mail server capabilities". 2 of the accounts are gmail, so I'm going to go through and verify all SMTP, IMAP and other settings before coming back with troubleshooting information.
I'll update this message one way or the other. If this happens to ring a bell for anyone, please don't hesitate to respond. Thank You!

Not sure why you cannot simply post the Troubleshooting Information.
