Does Thunderbird stores my emails even after the account from which the emails are migrated is deleted?
My webmail account is going to be deleted soon from my university, but i want to take backup of all emails. So is Mozilla Thunderbird the answer to my query?

Short answer, Yes (in my experience) but I suspect it may depend on how it has been setup.
To check this. Disconnect your PC from the internet and see can you still access those emails, if you can, they must be stored locally.
I have an old laptop that has a pop3 email account for a company I worked with on it from several years ago, and the emails are all still there even though the company ceased trading about 2007 and the account hasn't sent or received emails for years.
Warning : I'm not an expert, just a user for many years.
Just be aware of the differences between POP and IMAP email systems. IMAP is server based and you must do things differently to retain a local copy.
