Why is Firefox draining my bandwidth?
Using the latest version I simply open the window and it starts draining away. I have disabled updates, automatic add-on updates and still draining like crazy!
I'm using Chrome now, even though I'm not fond of it due to the lack of choice about updates and UI change. I want to use Firefox again!.
Thank you.

hello, in which proportions is firefox draining your bandwidth exactly by just sitting there? please also open the browser console by pressing ctrl+shift+j and have a look in the network tab what kind of connections are opened... maybe the article How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections can help you as well.

According to the terminal, the thief is:

Why the hell google is installing things on my computer?? Unacceptable!
EDIT: And why the hell is Firefox allowing it? Will I have to change browsers again?

this request will be caused by updating the anti-phishing/malware list that gets mentioned in the article i've linked to before as well.
How can I disable it? 10 to 20mb everytime I open firefox? Why doesnt Chrome waste as much data?
I have a very limited mobile broadband connection, I do NOT want to waste it all on updates or automatic crap-fetching.
i don't know what setup you're running there exactly, because normally firefox should only load incremental updates to those lists... you can avoid it altogether by disabling the corresponding features under firefox preferences > security.
Thank you!
I disabled the "features" and now the bandwidth is draining normally -no more 20mb waste every time-. That is what makes Firefox the best browser available, even though the developers add "features" that users may not want or need, they give the option to disable them.
20mb might not seem much to you but if you had only about 1 Gb of data plan and if every time you open the browser it wasted ~20mb you would care.
Anyway... Thanks for the help about the terminal. What a shame for me.. I didn't even know about that.
