Why??? Why did you change the "new tab"??? I loved my previous "new tab". It was beautiful. I could place a picture on the background. It was comfortable. Can I return my "new tub" to the previous desing?

Hi, for security reasons, from Firefox 41, you need to use an add-on like New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the New Tab page.

Once installed, open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.

Note, if you only want the New Tab to be the same as your Home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage instead.

You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.

If you were using the add-on Super Start, type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to extensions.superstart.set.browser.newtab.url and double click to change 'Value' from False to True, then restart Firefox.

You can also set a background of your choice for the New Tab page, by using the add-on New Tab Tools.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

Why can't we just have the New Tabs icon in the toolbar like the past ? I hate the idiotic + sign for new tabs. I used a New Tab icon for a decade and want it back. Or, make the HOME icon so it has an option to open a New Tab. I have a New Tabs icon on my Win 10 desktop and my Vista laptop but can't get it on my Win 7 laptop. What gives ?

Hi MarkinIdaho

You can drag the new tab '+' button in customize mode to another toolbar.

Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display or make changes to the current set up.

Slick. I had already tried to pull the + to the tool bar while in Customize mode and it would not move. If I dragged it to the Customize icon array, I can then drag it to the toolbar. Thanks.
