my cache2 folder had 23,000 entries back to July. I cleared cache for 1 day and they all disappeared.

Can you state the expectations of cache clearing? There are a few options you can choose from when clearing cache, one of them history.

guigs, Thank you for the reply. I have a basic understanding of cache for browsers. After your question, I went to Tools/Options/Privacy, "Clear history when Firefox closes" was unchecked so I checked it and then unchecked everything except cache. Does this seem like a good approach to you?
