I can un-check Quick Filter Bar in View, but it is back on the next start up. I don't use it, and it takes up message space on the screen. I am NOT using CCleaner.

Chosen solution

I would not fiddle with any substance inside a file. First you never know what a faulty entrance can do. Second many of those files are rewritten at start-up or closing of Tbird. So is SessionCheckpoints.json.

Well if your not using ccleaner, what else is messing with the session.json file. That is the real question.

Jut to be sure there is no corruption you could try deleting it as it is only a cache of settings from session to session it will be recreated on startup.

A search of my computer does not find a file "session.json", or a "session.(anything)", Is there another name for this file, or another place to look for the file?? Any other suggestions??

It is under a sub.....subfolder in a hidden folder in your user-environment. A search doesn't include those folders. The easiest way of finding it is thru TBird. Help / troubleshooting information + the button "show folder". Close Tbird before you delete or do anything in your profile

Deleting Sessions.json seems to work - but I have one further question. Do the settings in "SessionCheckpoints.json" have anything to do with this problem?? Some of the items have to do with changes in the profile.

I had missed the arrival of that file entirely. Looking though Bugzilla, it looks like that was created to identify and log startup and shutdown crashes in Toolkit. A largely shared Thunderbird Firefox component.
