I presume you are writing the email in html mode. If yes, you would see the 'Formatting Bar'.

Can you confirm if you are actually sending in both html and plain text. Tools > Options > Composition > General tab click on 'Send Options' button

Text format: Select: 'Send the message in both plain text and HTML' click on OK click on OK

Then confirm you are viewing the 'Sent' message in original html: 'View' > 'Message Body as' > select : 'Original HTML'

Toad-Hall, thank you for the answer. Both options are right. Thunderbird v38.2.0 https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/images/2015-09-25-03-05-53-106f39.png

thank you for the images and info. I can see your issue. The last image - I notice that the signature images do not attach an image that is stored locally on your computer. This is causing you a problem.

Example: This is how I created and attached an image as part of my signature file.

Open a new Write message. Remove all current signature, so it is completely blank. select all the formatting required from the 'Formatting Bar' I selected 'Times', colour blue, italic and bold. Typed 'Regards' and pressed return. on new line typed my name and press return

now to insert the image: 'Insert' > 'Image' click on 'Choose file' locate image stored on my computer and click on 'Open' select 'Attach this image to the message'

the image is too big, so want to keep scale but make smaller. click on 'Dimensions' tab Select: Custom size' and 'Constrain' width eg: 200 pixels length is auto set.

I want to be able to click on the image and it opens in a browser on my website. click on 'Link' tab Under 'Enter a web location......etc' type the website page eg: http://www.anje.co.uk click on OK

Image is inserted.

Now to save the file as html document in a folder on my desktop or in my documents - not in thunderbird. click on drop down of 'Save' and choose 'File' or 'File' > 'Save as' > 'File' choose where to save on computer. make sure it is saved with a suitable filename with .html extension.

Then attach the file: 'Tools' > 'Account Settings' for the mail account or right click on mail account name in folder Pane and select 'Settings'

select 'attach the signature from a file instead (text, HTML or image)' click on 'choose' button locate and select the *.html file you just saved and click on 'Open' click on OK.

Click on 'Write' the Write window should now open showing the image.

type the subject and save as Draft. Look in 'Drafts' folder. select the draft email to see in lower Message Pane. you should still see the image. Hover mouse pointer over image and you should see the link info in the bottom status bar. click on image and it should open on your website page.

hello! Thank you very much for helping. Problem was solved by loading new pictures on our server, and write new paths to them.
