the compose new email button disappeared. where is it?

I went to compose a new email and realized that the button you usually click on had disappeared from Thunderbird. Anyone know how to get it back. I can't write any new emails without it.

Never mind, I found that one other person had this problem and the solution for them worked. For those reading this who have the problem click on alt and v and it will reappear. Then click on view, tools and check mail tool bar.
