The Firefox profile folder is here:
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
"AppData" (XP: Application Data; Mac: ~/Library; Linux: ~/.mozilla) is a hidden folder.
You would need to restore the places.sqlite file and the bookmarkbackups folder. Make sure to remove existing places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal temp files.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

actually i managed to go to the windows old and navagate to profiles in mozilla and found 4 backup jonson files and i picked the next to last date and it gave me back all but the last few days. thanks for the help. you suggestion most likely would have helped. but i had it before i got your replays. thanks for all the help. nw to get my fire fox addon and extensions back. i'll search for that soon.
You could copy the extensions folder, but it is best to reinstall the extensions.
You can open extensions.json (c:\Windows.old) in the Scratchpad (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) if you need details about previously installed extensions.
You can open the file in the Scratchpad (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer). Click the "Pretty Print" button to format the file for readability.
