Hi, I have an issue where every time I open a new tab in firefox an annoying song plays (for about 7 seconds) and I have no idea what is causing it, I looked through my plugins and I can't see any that would cause it. Is there any way I can manually disable this? It's so annoying I am ready to switch browsers because of it but I don't want to because I love firefox!

Chosen solution

Do you use the New Tab page with tiles?

I assume so: you certainly visited previously a website with a song which is automatically played. This website is saved as most visited and it is displayed as a tile on the New Tab page.

Website tiles are preload like a classic website in a tab, so if there is music, you listen this music.

To fix that, several ways (the first is the most "nondestructive"):

  • Open each website on your New Tab page until you find the "guilty" tile, then click on the little cross on the top right of the tile
  • Hide tiles on your New Tab page
  • Delete your recent history
