Can't open any attached Microsoft office document after update to windows 10
I cant open any attached microsoft office document ( Exell, Word, Powerpoint ... ) after the Windows 10 update. Saving to desktop and open from the desktop is still working, but directly out of the thunderbird is not possible anymore. First error : program has found an error in the contence. Program can repair ( program can be powerpoint.exe or word.exe or .... ) ( sorry for the translation. I work in a dutch windows enviroment ) When I press 'repair ) I mostly have following error : The file (complete path and filename ) can't be read with the program. Finally I have the below error : The application failed to start properly ( 0xc0000022 ). Press Ok to close the application.
I already tried to remove the standard programm to open the attached file ( Extra / Options / Attachlents / Incoming ... ) But this didn't solve the problem. I hope someone knows how to solve this.
Version used thunderbird : 38.2.0
Thank you already for all the given advice.
Microsoft seems to know they broke their software with Win10. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3086786?wa=wsignin1.0Read this answer in context 👍 1

If you detach the attachment file first, can you open it then?
What do you mean with 'detach' ? When I save the file to my desktop I can open it without any problem.
Maybe also needed information. I use the Microsoft Office 365 version. When I discovered the problem ( open attached MS documents ) I also uninstalled this and re-installed the MS software. Also this didn't solve the problem.

Thank you Airmail,
The troubleshooter didn't work, but the manual Workaroud 1 did the job.
Once more thank you for your support.
Good to know since this seems to be a common post here since Win 10 started creating havoc.
When you saved the file to the desktop (or any other place in the disk file system on the hard drive), you detached it.
