For Firefox 40 in Kubuntu 15.04. (fresh installed) the behaviour to go to the first tab with Alt-1 is no longer working. It worked in previous Firefox versions.

This problem happens to 'Alt-1' only, Alt-2 and so on are working as expected.

Chosen solution

I would assume that the Linux OS was taking over the Alt+1 shortcut and it didn't reach Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

It didn't solve my problem. After trying your advices - which didn't help - I created a new empty profile and in this profile the problem continued.

cor-el,

problem solved after installing Kubuntu 14.04. instead of 15.04. Firefox version is the same 40.0.
