I cannot receive messages and when I send emails, an error will pop up that my message cannot be saved in Sent.

I followed the suggested action on how to fix the error of not being able to receive any messages but it did not work. I did the repair folder option and now all my messages are gone. How do I retrieve my old messages as well as be able to receive new messages? My Thunderbird recently updated. Is that one of the reasons?

Which advice have you followed? Do you have a link to it? I'm not sure that repairing folders would be useful to you.
