Fully remove firefox so that can start fresh .. returning error related to needing root privileges to start firefox
Firefox nolonger launches from the icon on my Ubuntu 15.04
The icon will however bring up a minimized firefox.
Firefox only launches with sudo firefox. Will not launch with just command firefox in the terminal window.
I want your help to totally remove *all* of firefox and start totally fresh.
I have asked the Ubuntu user forum for this and nothing has worked so far.
The original problem seems to stem from firefox needing root privileges (it starts, with errors, from sudo firefox but not without sudo) but at this point I want to do a full purge of all firefox material and reinstall fresh and so I have named that as my primary problem I am hoping someone can help me with.
Failed attempts: I have tried unistalling via dash, restarting the computer and reinstalling via the software center I have tired unistalling via sudo apt-get purge firefox, restarting the computer and reinstalling via the software center I have tired unistalling via sudo apt-get purge firefox then mv ~/.mozilla ~/Desktop/<folder>, restarting the computer and reinstalling via the software center
I have found another user with some similar problem as my original, but no answer was found for that person.
Please help !!
THANK YOU !!!

Try the version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
You can find the full version of the current current Firefox release (39.0) in all languages and all operating systems here:
Did you check the permissions of the profile in the ~/.mozilla/firefox and ~/.cache/mozilla/firefox folders?
I was able to solve this with help from someone else, so I don't know if your particular method would have worked, but thank you very much for offering a solution! Sorry, everyone, I am not sure what they did to fix it ... :(
