What version of Thunderbird? What Operating System? What version of your operating system?
TB version 38.1.0 - windows 7 - 68bit
Have you been using a theme which had been disabled by a recent update to Thunderbird?
I don't have windows 7 here to check against right now, but I haven't seen any such change on the machine at work where I do use Windows 7.
Windows 8 is a different matter ; it appears to pick the dominant colour from your wallpaper and then apply it to window frames.
thank you for your quick response -
i'm totally computer illiterate - 've been looking for the themes for TB, but i don't know where to find them - or do you mean computer themes?
i updated TB to current version after the problem appeared
