Howdy:

Feeling stupid because I need to relearn this once a year or two...

I want to clear cookies & history each time FF closes.

But also want my FF Sync pswd to stay saved...in addition to the above.

What's the correct settings to achieve this?

Thank you

I think that it will work if you can keep the Password Manager disabled after you have saved the Sync authorization in the Password Manager.

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: [] "Remember passwords for sites"

I don't think that clearing cookies will affect the functionality of Sync as you need to sign in to Sync on every start, so you only need to exclude the passwords from "Clear history when Firefox closes".

If you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear Cookies then exclude the cookies and you can consider to let the cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Keep until: "I close Firefox"

Create a cookie 'allow' exception for cookies that you want to keep.

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions
