With Thunderbird 38.1 for Mac the only theme which displays the window sizing buttons is the default theme. Why?

After upgrading to version 38.01 (and now to 38.1) Thunderbird for Mac the only theme which will show the 3 window sizing buttons in the upper left corner is the default theme. It appears that the bar is there it just won't display. Any idea what's going on? I miss being able to use the more colorful themes. I didn't have this problem before the upgrade to version 38.

I would assume the themes need updating for the new version.
