My Thunderbird account suddenly disappeared. I have Thunderbird back, but all my saved emails are missing. Some from the inbox dated back to June 20th returned in one account, but all others are missing. Sent folder is empty as are the others. I may have found where the files are located on the computer, but I don't know how to get them back into Thunderbird, if I am right.

I don't know if I was hacked or if this is a quirk that can be fixed. If anyone can help me, I will be truly grateful. Thank you!!!

Chosen solution

My best guess what happened was that Thunderbird lost track of your profile (for whatever reason) and started with a new clean profile. You could have recovered the existing profile, but since you already took the trouble to re-create all your accounts it's not needed.

I may have found where all the emails/folders are, but I can't find a way to restore them.

Install this add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

You can then use it to import the existing mail files from the old profile. Note, mail files are those without a file extension, e.g. 'Inbox', or 'Sent'.

If there's anything else you may want to recover from the old profile check this article. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Thunderbird

There is no such thing as a 'Thunderbird account'. You do have an account with your email provider, and you use Thunderbird to access that account. Please explain in detail what 'disappeared'.

I have Thunderbird back

Please explain in detail what that means, what you did, and what happened.

I don't know if I was hacked

Probably not.

I clicked Thunderbird to read my mail. Nothing was there. All my email accounts had disappeared. All my folders were missing. I added the accounts again, but all the folders: inbox, drafts, sent et al were empty. Somehow, the emails from June 20 to present reappeared in the inbox for one account, but none of the others reappeared. I may have found where all the emails/folders are, but I can't find a way to restore them.
