Well, let's see, I've had friends tell me to try Firefox & they like it, but I gave it a whirl & though it is some faster have found it not compatible with a few of my programs I use (long story) my Norton & such doesn't even work right , so for now I'll stay with the ole version stock sys. browser, the E -11, it has done me justice so far! The problem, while needing a little space & cleaning out misc. programs, decided to leave & uninstall Firefox! went to the ole trusty Windows (which is 7 version) to "Uninstall Programs", removed a few that were some smaller just fine, but seeing this Mozilla Firefox had a fairly large size & I wasn't using , of course, Tried to Uninstall! No such Luck!! Seems Mozilla doesn't want you to remove there product once you have it! After several no luck tries, I then tried the smaller program they have that is theirs that is much smaller size which is for maintenance, etc. , of course it deleted that one-ha! Went back once again to the main Mother ship size one of Firefox program & when you hit delete, the same thing, it spins a circle for a split second & nothing, stays there! Any suggestions? I'm an old dino on PC & just wondering if there's another way of eliminating this Fox! Thanks

Jer here, and thanks for the info, from both of you guys, I tried all suggestions to my best abilities with No luck! I learnt a lot of things & places to go which I didn't before & how to get to stuff but , darn Mozilla gorilla would not delete manual with file program usage or safe modes, etc. Must of had a bad link there or damaged regs. what have ya. Don't really know how it was working on line and why maybe I was having some problems with! But for the record & for further info in future, I did Succeed !! An old friend that had moved to Denver I contacted with some Vast pc knowledge told me the best and easiest way that always worked for him when he was Unable to delete a program at times, was to simply Re-install the program , (it will generally repair regs. or replace old , etc.) then go back Immediately to "Remove Programs" & Delete! Did just that and Bingo -she's gone with all applications/Icons, etc. Might be a good thing to remember. Might try Firefox again another day! Thanks again for your reply's.

Firefox generally uses three folders: one program folder, and two settings folders. Try starting with the program folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

Look for the uninstall folder and try helper.exe

Does that run? Occasionally, problems can be caused by the Windows installer having too large a backlog of deferred changes. If that is the problem, shutting down and restarting Windows will clear it.

If helper.exe doesn't work even after clearing deferred changes, you may need to delete folders by hand:

(1) Program folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

(2) Main Settings folder:

You paste this in the Start menu search box and press Enter to open it:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla

Or you can drill down to

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla

(3) Temp Settings folder:

You paste this in the Start menu search box and press Enter to open it:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla

Or you can drill down to

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Mozilla

Manually removing folders will not clear the "Uninstall a Program" entry, as that is stored somewhere in the registry.

If the computer is still not removing Firefox for any reason,

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

Starting The Computer In Safe Mode;
Free Online Encyclopedia

Then do the above.

Well Fella's , (jscher 2000 & FredMcD)- thanks for the reply's, but no luck of as of yet & as early as I got up, bushed with it all, but have picked up much info from both of ya's ! My laptop is or seems to be in top condition for all things consider & almost 4 years old. I keep her scrubbed up pretty good-ha! I might try a few more times on the hand delete files thingy. Do have a few friends, now long distance that may can help with this end also, persistence pays they say huh! Everything from top to bottom otherwise is fine & have deleted other programs/files from "Remove Programs" just fine with NO problems, Just this Mozilla! Seems strange to me, but so does a lot of things after you've turned 60-ha! Thanks again for the advise-JerSW

What happens when you try to remove Firefox? File in use?

Rebooting in Safe Mode will make sure nothing other then system programs are running.

You should be able to uninstall then,

If there is still a problem, open your file browser to the Programs Folder.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Delete the Firefox (and the Mozilla Maintenance Service <Windows Only> folders manually. After, run a register scanner/repair.

Once done, re-boot. Your Firefox should be gone.
