Trying to connect to existing mail account (on Horde.org) and not on Thunderbird data base.

Tried to add an existing account through the wizard but the server was not on Thunderbird's data base. My existing account is on Horde.org. It is an open source project, based in the USA. I used to get in-coming mail using Apples mail but when I upgraded to OS X Yosemite I could no longer do this. However I love the feel of Thunder Bird, and would like to stay here.

I see horde as software you run on a server. Therefore who ever installed it will have the administrative access to advise you of the server name port and connection protocols that have be set up when the product was installed. You can manually enter these into Thunderbird when the wizard needs that information to add the account.
