Firefox closes tabs without giving me a warning, even though I checked "warn me when I close tabs"

Up until now, Firefox would always pop up the "Warning; you are about to close x number of tabs" window if I tried to close Firefox with multiple tabs open. Today, however, it just quits directly to my desktop, regardless of how many tabs are open. I have "warn me when I close tabs" checked on my "Tab options" menu, but it still won't work. I still get warned if I try to open too many tabs at once, but it refuses to warn me when I close my tabs.

I've tried checking and unchecking the options, rebooting the computer, checked my plugins for outdated ones (the only potential problem is Shockwave Flash 17, but the other help options said Shockwave Flash 16 was the problem), looked for user.js, and went through pretty much all the suggestions made on the forums. Nothing's worked, and at this point, I'm stumped.

(Also, I prefer having Firefox clear my history when I leave, so just having my tabs restored when I start Firefox up again isn't my preferred option.)

This problem only started this afternoon; it was fine earlier in the day. Is this due to a windows update, a Firefox update, or some strange virus?

UPDATE THE SECOND: I managed to locate the problem; the Tab Mix Plus Add-on apparently isn't compatible with the latest Firefox update. Disabling it seems to have solved the problem for now.

What is the startup setting? You can check the startup setting:

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts":
"Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    "Show my home page"
    "Show a blank page"

If this is "Show my windows and tabs from last time" then Firefox won't ask for confirmation.

My startup setting is set at "Show my home page" and that's been working fine too.

UPDATE: I temporarily changed my startup setting from "Show my Home Page" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" (which worked fine), then immediately reloaded Firefox (complete with all my previous tabs), changed it back, and quit Firefox again. I'm still not getting the warning. I even tried it with and without checking the "clear my history after Firefox closes" option checked, and got the same result.

Everything else seems to be working fine with Firefox, it's just that the "close tabs" warning isn't coming up. I really don't have any other ideas on how to proceed.

Try updating the Tab Mix Plus Add-on. This worked for me.
