gallerie events If this is the list name try removing the space in the name or creating a new list without the space and see if it works better.

have you got a space either before or after the text of the address. clicking and highlighting the address in the address book should show that space up if it exists.
hi Matt thanks for your input. No this is not the problem. I am trying to set up a mail ing list and to test it I have just entered my own address but this is the message I get:
<An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Syntax error in parameters or arguments. Please check the message recipient "gallerie events" and try again>.
The error suggests the recipients email address is wrong. Check your list.
no it is my email address and it is entered correctly. I thought setting up a mailing list would be straightforward. Is there a tutorial on how to do it in case I am missing something; thanks
There were some issues with certain versions of Thunderbird that did not like spaces in list names. Does it work if you make the list with no space or substitute an underscore in the list name.
no there is only one name on the list right now - my name - and it has no spaces. I guess if this is not a frequent question then I must be doing something wrong or there may be an incompatibility with my server? cheers

thanks for your help
Before the last update to Thunderbird, my mailing lists all worked fine. After reading the earlier comments, I've renamed them all, making sure there are no spaces in the names. They still no longer work. I am now using Thunderbird, ver. 31.6.0.
