When I open a new tab it used to open just google.com. Now it opens with https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl in the url. How do I fix this?

It opens in Google, but it's not right. It's hard to highlight the address if I want to go to another page. It simply doesn't work the way it used to work

Chosen solution

Set the URL to use the https protocol if you currently use the http protocol.

Note that there are prefs to set the behavior when you click the location bar.

  • browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll
  • browser.urlbar.doubleClickSelectsAll

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
