Can Firefox notify me the moment when an unavailable website becomes available?
Firefox and other browsers are being used to perform increasingly more essential functions, whether it be billing an insurance company through a clearinghouse, submitting a timesheet to your supervisor, or simply accessing your webmail. Users attempt to go to a website and, through no fault of Firefox, receive an "Unable to Connect" error. From that point on, a user (at least I do) will check the website over and over in the hope that maybe something has changed in the last couple of minutes. Is there any way that Firefox can monitor the status of the website and send a notification to the user that the website is restored? This could save a lot of people a lot of heartburn.

Hey kshawx2,
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.
There can be many reasons that a computer can't connect to a site.
- Censorship (Government or ISP)
- Web site is down
- Blocking programs
- Security problems.
Please post a public link for us to look at.

This Connection is Untrusted is sometimes caused because the computer system clock is wrong. Check the time / date / time zone settings.
Thanks, I didn't realize that.
There are add-ons design to reload pages. Perhaps one of those could be adapted to only keep reloading until it gets some actual content and then flash the tab to let you know. I'm not sure myself how difficult that would be, but I do think an add-on would be the quickest way to get this functionality since new Firefox features usually take several months to launch.
