When I start up Firefox, little snitch tells me it wans to connect to an unknown address not connected to mozilla SECURITY ISSUE?

As of yesterday, I notice that my version of firefox 32 ( I also run the latest version - but have to use 32 sometimes for some pages)

"wants to connect to adam.curry.com on TCP port 443 (https) " in the little snitch dialogue.

Adam.curry.com has this website associated with it that I found on google : http://adam.curry.com/art/1384379053_h3QhW9tq.html

I have never visited it previously

I use mac 10.6.8

When I connect with the the other versions I have this is not the case. It seems my version 32 has been compromised some how.

I would like some assistance on how to understand why this has happened and what to do with my version 32 - do I reset it or trash it and download it again? I use these older versions for testing webpages.

I have attached the screenshot - to make clear this is the FIRST dialogue that appears when Firefox 32 starts with Little Snitch enabled.

Hope to have some clarity on this. Thanks

Scott

Hi there - thanks for the reply

Resetting has fixed the issue.

Like I mentioned - I have upgraded to the current version (which was not affected) and I use older versions for testing websites I develop.

Version 32 was the only version that was redirecting.

But reset has done the trick.

Thanks

Scott

Hello,

It would definitely be worth resetting Firefox, as this will remove all addons and extentions (which might be causing the problem). Your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information will be preserved. See instructions below.

Also, consider updating to the latest version of Firefox. You can download the latest version here: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/

This issue could be caused by malware on your machine. It would be worth running a scan for viruses. If you don't have any anti-virus software, Sophos anti-virus is a free option: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-edition.aspx

Refreshing Firefox

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.
