Thunderbird now covers my whole screen. How do I reduce the display?

Chosen solution

I found this on the web:

WORKAROUND: 1. Edit ~/.thunderbird/*/localstore.rdf 2. Search for: sizemode="fullscreen" 3. Change it to: sizemode="normal"

That's for a Linux installation. Step 1 will be different for you if you use Windows.

So,

Go to Help|Troubleshooting Information. Look for "Profile Folder" and click on the button next to it labelled "Show Folder". You will be taken to your profile. You'll need to have your computer set to see hidden folders for the next bit.

Find the file named localstore.rdf and open it in Notepad. Now you can search for sizemode (there will be lots of them!) and look for any that are set to "fullscreen", and change it to "normal".

I don't know how it gets set to "fullscreen" since Thunderbird doesn't formally offer this option.
