Hi I am trying to set up my email account in my accountancy program (Big Red Cloud) so that I can send emails such as invoices. The setup asks for the SMTP Settings but will not accept the ones given to me in Thunder bird (tools>Account Settings>Outgoing Server (SMTP) The support crowd says they cant help but that I need to get the right server name from my email provider. Unfortunately my screen shot won't upload but I hope i can get help anyways

Kind Regards Elin

Your email provider names their server and assigns ports. They can provide this info. Although if Thunderbird is sending OK that info should be on the SMTP setup page. Tools-Account Settings-Outgoing Server (SMTP)

To be honest, this is a forum for Thunderbird issues not other applications..

But I located this on how to set up for you app: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpMy8sFcbKo

re: but will not accept the ones given to me in Thunderbird (tools>Account Settings>Outgoing Server (SMTP) - there is no name - just a number.

This was probably set up manually. At this point, I cannot advise as you have not told me anything about the server. You will definately need the actual server name.

Do you know if it uses gmail, hotmail, cox, btinternet.com, virginmedia etc etc ? What somes after the '@' in your email address?

In Thunderbird: Help > Troublehooting Information do not select: Include account names click on 'Copy text to clipboard' paste the info into this question in the forum.
