How can I add names to an existing email list?

I would like to add newer additions to my address book to email lists I have been using for some years. I used to be able to do this but with all the updates, I think Thunderbird has forgotten how.

Drag and drop them on the list folder in the left pane.

Thank you very much.  At first I could not find the new names but the email addresses are alphabetized and now it is all clear.  May the sun shine on you (and especially if you live in the eastern USA).
