How to delete duplicate addresses in my addressbook

I havetried to tidy up my address books and moved those in my Contacts to my Personao Addressbook. Now the latter is full of duplicates and triplicates. I cannot undo. Can this be automated?

Try use this add-on: Duplicate Contact Manager

Thanks for the guidance. I went through through the steps and got the message: "Duplicate Contact Manager could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 36.0" Please advise further.

I also have FX 36 and I can install no problems.

Did you do theses steps?

  1. Open you Thunderbird
  2. Press Alt or F10 to see the menu bar, then Tools >> Add-ons
  3. Click on Extensions, in the top right of the screen you can see a gear, click on it and select Install Add-on From File...
  4. Then select the xpi file that you download, then just install it
