I cannot find the function request to export my contacts list from Thunderbird to gmail. I do not have the ability to create a CSV file and understand there is a way to export the list without all the complications of creating new forms.

Thunderbird has the ability to export to CSV file. Maybe you just have not found it yet.

Open the Address Book window. Select Tools-Export. Select Comma Separated File for the type. Name the file. Select the destination.
