I am a Windows 7 user. Deleting messages used to be a very quick process regardless whether it was short or long, it had any attachments, or built in links, or whatever. Now, sometimes its fast, but most of the time I have to wait more than 5 or 6 seconds before the deletion finishes the move to trash. I recently updated to version 31.3.0 which would appear it might have something to do with this since my wife's version of Thunderbird 24.6.0 on her Windows 7 machine which receives the same messages does not have the problem. Is there a setting or fix for this or must I try and find the older version and reinstall??

that sounds like anti virus problems. The worst offender is McAfee, but none are totally except from issues. What anti virus are you using?

I do have McAfee on my computer and Norton on my wifes. I can down load from my cable provider Norton so I will replace the McAfee and see what that does. As I mentioned, however the earlier version of Thunderbird worked just fine.

I replaced McAfee with Norton and the problem appears to be solved. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
