Firefox is not upgrading; I download and run the installer, but the version stays the same.
1. I'm on 64-bit Windows 7. 2. Current Firefox version is 33.0 Yahoo edition 1.32 3. Every time I open the About Mozilla Firefox dialog, an update appears to run automatically, followed by "Restart to Update." When I click on this button, Firefox closes but does not re-open. When I launch Firefox, it is still the old version. 4. Have also tried restarting my PC, to no avail. 5. I have encountered this problem in the past as well, and have subsequently gone back to Chrome. I really want to use Firefox because of Mozilla's respect for privacy; help! (and thanks). 6. Automatic "educated guesses" about my system are wrong; they mistakenly report WinXp and Firefox 9.

Hi blakec, I am not sure who manages the Yahoo Edition, however it is a partner build and may not have that version available. However the update to 33.1.1 is available in the Mozilla build.
Thank you, Guigs2, for your reply. However, my Yahoo mail account also reports an older version of Firefox and therefore only shows my account in the Basic Mail format. This is even after having clicked through their link to their version of Firefox and trying to update. On a previous PC (also Win7, but 32-bit), I encountered this same problem and attempted to update through the Mozilla (not Yahoo) website, with the same results. I will uninstall Firefox and try reinstalling from the Mozilla site.
