trying to download firefox, keeps saying server not found, no problem with IE or AOL, tho
Can't figure this out, since I'm having no trouble with IE or AOL - no connection problems. When I click on download it opens a download window, but then nothing happens. When I see a log (can't remember where that was), that's where I see server not found. I am NOT technically oriented, so............... Thanks!

Hey,
What browser are you trying to download Firefox from? Are you going to Mozilla.org to do it (and if not, you know what to do now!)?
Thanks!

Hey,
To find the correct solution to your problem, we need some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:
- Use ONE of these methods to open the Firefox Troubleshooting Information page:
- Click the menu button
, click on help
and select Troubleshooting Information.
- Type about:support into the Firefox address bar and press the enter key.
- Click the menu button
- At the top of the Troubleshooting Information page that comes up, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
- Now, go back to your forum post, right-click in the reply box and select Paste from the context menu (or else click inside the reply box and press the Ctrl+V keys) to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.
If you need further information about the Troubleshooting information page, please read the article Use the Troubleshooting Information page to help fix Firefox issues.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for the suggestion, but it looks like you're referring to an icon within Firefox (??), which I don't have at all yet because I haven't been able to download it.

I am using IE because that's what I currently have on this computer. I prefer FF, though, which is why I'm trying to download it. I have gone to Mozilla.org, clicked on the download button then a window opens up that has a url in a box towards the top & buttons at the bottom which include "hide" & "open". There's nothing that opens that has a "run" button. Then nothing happens.
I've tried in IE & AOL. No luck. I don't know if it would help if I could somehow do a screen shot of the boxes that are coming up - & post them in here. Maybe I'll try that later.
I forgot - in the download manager, I see an entire list of "starting download", then "can't connect to server", then "pause 5 sec", then those 3 things just keep repeating. Thanks for any help anyone can offer!
OK, I've downloaded FF. Turns out I had something called Free Download Manager, which I uninstalled & the download worked after that. However, it still can't connect to the server. But now, I can copy the text as suggested earlier, so I will paste it here. Thank you! Application Basics

Still hoping someone can help me out. I've discovered that this problem (can't connect to server) is for google-related sites, i.e. I Google Earth & Chrome won't connect either. However, if I go into IE or AOL, I can still access my google home page & gmail. I have tried to turn off the Windows Firewall (again, I'm not a techie) so I'm not sure I've done it right. I've gone into Control Panel but don't see anything that says "security", which one HELP response said. Arrgghhh!!! Thanks for any help anyone can offer - this is driving me nuts!!!
I finally managed to get FF downloaded, but it still won't connect to the server. Nor will google earth or chrome. Seems to be a google problem. Someone I know suggested turning off the Windows Firewall. I think I've done that, but not sure. Since I was able to download FF, I did post that text that's in the troubleshooting area. It's on this thread somewhere - or should be. This is just driving me nuts! Thank you for any help!! Donna
