I just installed Firefox on my Toshiba Thrive Android Tablet & would like to be able to just click on an icon on the desk-top to be able to browse the web. I already have a short-cut icon on the desk-top of this tablet called 'BROWSER'...which brings me to the Google browser...is this still OK to use? I have been using this for years. I only installed this Firefox thing cuz I rec'd a 'security message to do so. I really don't know what this is for...if it's supposed to be a Replacement for the Google browser Or if it is a Back up for the Google browser. Also, if I go from an Email link to a web site, it now gives me the option to do this using Firefox, which May be what this is for & is fine...but I don't see an 'X' to close the web site after viewing it on your Firefox browser. Thank you.

Chosen solution

If you go into the apps view by tapping on the apps button in the upper right, locate the Firefox icon and long press on it Android should allow you to add it to the homescreen.

Firefox is a full replacement for the Android browser. The browser you choose to use is up to you. We believe that Firefox is a safe, secure and privacy centric browser.

Firefox uses tabs for keeping several sites active at once. This is represented by the number in the upper right or left. Please see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-tabs-firefox-android for some basics about using tabs.

I got the icon on my homepage...Thank you Very much! Now, is Firefox to Replace the Google & Dolphin browsers to search the web (in other words, should I Uninstall those two)? If so, how do you Close Out of Firefox after searching the web (there's no 'X' button as far as I can see)? Also, since installing this, I am unable to view (mostly UTube) videos posted by others on forum sites...they Flicker Badly, start up, then boot off completely (I was able to view them & they did not Flicker previously)...will you Pleeez take care of this issue for me? Lastly, when I type comments on the forum sites, and even here for that matter, it is 'Very Touchy', does not 'seem' normal, & when I go to 'erase' while typing, it goes Really Fast & Erases More than Intended...will you Pleez take care of this for me also? Thank you Very! much...I really Appreciate your help. P.S. Remember, I am using an Android tablet, Toshiba Thrive, in case you need to refer to info for this tablet.
