I'm currently running the latest version of Thunderbird with Lightning to utilise my google calendar, since last night, I've been receiving this error message:

"Failed to read 'quotaExceeded' from chrome://gdata-provider/locale/gdata.properties"

What is this error, what causes it and how do I fix it?

When I check "Switch this calendar on" in the calendar properties, I see the calendar events on my calendar, and then the error as above, and then it turns off that calendar again. If however, I change the calendar properties to "readonly", it loads properly and after that I can turn off "readonly" and it seems to be working again, but I have some doubled-up events in the calendar for some reason...

This is a brand new bug...

... to fix it, you have to delete your calendars and then add them as new. You'll be able to select all of them with your main Google calendar login email address.

Make sure you enable cookies under "options" if you haven't already.

Nope, doesn't work. I guess the provider add-on coder is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/provider-for-google-calendar/

Sorry, worked for me on three computers with six calendars.

I have tried the beta 1.0.1 version, and it's not working either. Deleted the calandar and re-added, no joy. New format to the error message though, it now says "Quota exceeded" or something like that.

I hope the developer can come up with a fix.

Sorry, exact error message is now (under 1.0.1): "The quota for xxxx@gmail.com has been exceeded, please try again later."

Sadly, after following the above advice the problem is still not resolved

I had to remove the whole "google provider addon" to get my calendar working again. Restarted TB a couple of times when it asked.

Just removing the calendars didn't help.

So, I when re-adding the calendars again to the freshly installed "Provider for Google Calendars" needed to get the XML link again, maybe that had somehow broken or expired.

As a temporary work-around, I have found that deleting my Google Calendar in TB and creating it again as a new calendar in the Ical format (not XML) works in read-only mode. Hope this helps

Don't use the provider and XML. Use CalDav I think I have covered all the important stuff here http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/lightning-and-caldav.html

Please some one try CalDav instead of the data provider.

Googles documentation is a mess, but I think I have nailed it. http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/lightning-and-caldav.html
