The last two parts of my post are about removing search engines for your search bar (is that where you are seeing them?)
For removing search engines from your search bar:
- Click the drop down button on the search bar and click "Manage Search Engines..."
- In the dialog box that pops up (see attached screenshot), click on the search engine you would like to remove (Google) and the "Remove" button, repeat this step for Twitter
- Press "OK"
After that, when you click the drop down on your search bar, you should no longer see the search providers you removed.

Hey there,
In order to change the default search engine or the order of search engines in the top right search box in Firefox, please perform the following steps:
- Move the mouse cursor inside the search box at the top right of the Firefox window and click the down arrow next to the provider's logo.
- If you would like to select another search engine, simply pick the engine from the dropdown list.
In order to change the order of the search engines, do this:
- From the dropdown list, select Manage Search Engines....
- In the upcoming window, you have all your search engines listed. To change the order, simply click one search engine and then select Move up or Move down from the buttons on the right side in order to change the order of the search engines.
Let me know if this helps!
- In the about:config page, search for "newtab"
- Change the value for "browser.newtab.url" to a site of your choice
In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :
- In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
- Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
so i give you a A for effort. NO search box at rt. end of address bar. i had tried to remove Google from that search bar and THAT removed the entire search bar from existence in computer world. further days later, somehow that search bar one morning magically reappear, this time with Twitter. So I went to remove Twitter and again, the entire search bar at the rt. end of add. bar, gone forever.
A separate issue, unrelated to above- is the "new tab". The recent search boxes and sites visited are annoying but I get it. However, I won't stand for Google invasion of my computer and not possible in that new tab, to unload the LOCK Google has on the executive at Mozilla. obviously a poor marketing stradegy. I do not like Google or Chrome. period. I wanted Bing on that "new tab" for search engine on THAT "new tab" but Google OWNS the "new tab" area. sucks.
ok. so, where would a normal non tech dude, me- locate the
In the about:config page, search for "newtab" ?
thank you sir,

As for your search bar, it is probably hidden
- Click the menu button
and choose Customize
- In the page that appears, your Search Bar should hopefully be among them. Click and drag your Search Bar back onto your toolbar

firefoxlousy, next time continue in the existing thread instead of creating new threads as replies. You were also told how to do this and that you were removing a toolbar item instead of going into Manage search engines in you attempts to remove a search engine from search bar. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1019529

not my fault english is not your strong suit. NO place did I say, this is THE toolbar issue. right?
THIS is when you hit + to open a new way to have a fresh address bar and that give you, GOOGLE search in your face. and THAT ain't changeable.
is it. no it's not. god. and if you want to get nasty, read what is written, this is NOT about the search bar at rt. end of add. bar, and stop with the 'tude.
