Set up email account without password requirement

When I set up my account manually and retest the authentication box changes to normal password for pop3 and smtp. It would appear that the most recent version of thunderbird stipulates that a password must be used at all times. With earlier versions this was not the case in my experience

All email accounts have and need a password. Nothing has changed. When you setup your account there will be a check box to tell Thunderbird to remember the password and enter it for you when your email provider's server asks for it. Use that check box if you do not want to enter the password yourself.
