Whenever I - or any user in our work environment - try to print a webpage from Firefox, the application crashes. We are all running OS X 10.9.x

I have already tried reinstalling the printers/drivers. I also tried running Firefox in safe mode, and the issue still persisted. I installed Firefox 29.0, and the app does not crash upon trying to print.

I have been unable to find any helpful information on this issue. Please advise as to how this can be resolved. Thank you.

I filed a bug for this crash as it has been reported on Mac machines and all of the comments are either printing a webpage or printing a print button.

If I may ask are you using File > Print or is there also a print icon?

Another question for investigation is do you have print_printer?

In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. right click new > string and enter name : print_printer and for value : enter the name of your printer with without the quotes, then OK.

Please post back with the results. Thank you!

Hello,

I have tried both File > Print and webpages with a print icon. Both result in the same crash/error.

I did not have print_printer. So I followed the instructions you posted - with two different printers. I tried both with and without quotes, as I was not sure which you meant to do. Yet unfortunately, I still receive the same crash/error.

Any other ideas?

Starting Firefox in safe mode did not resolve the issue. Trying to print a web page while in safe mode results in the same crash/error as posted above.

Just an update to mention there are other threads on this subject that may be worth watching.

Have you got a Crash ID for a recent crash when in Firefox's Safe Mode please.

I just recreated this error in safe mode. Here is the Report ID: bp-70b8bceb-8127-4b94-9e94-8b5322140806

So that crash report is sending me to a Service Unavailable page. Is there another that was created by chance?

Thanks zer0nimbus,

I guess we are a bit stuck at the moment waiting to see if someone can figure out this issue.

I can access that report. It is as expected.

I just wondered if it would differ at all or even crash in safe mode and with a default theme. I think all reports of this crash I have noticed so far have had some theme other than the default.

Longshot

Does deleting the print queue or resetting the printing system help ?

My print queue was empty, I reset the printing system, and re-added my printers. Unfortunately, Firefox still crashes with the same error when I try to print.
