It's exactly what the headline states; it only started happening a few days ago, and I've checked the addons etc and there is nothing there to remove aside from AdBlock. When it says to 'uninstall the programme', the programme itself isn't even on my computer!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At first, I would recommend trying to do a virusscan just to be sure there isn't any click-fraud malware installed on your computer, remove all the viruses you find with a virusscanner of your choice (I prefer Malwarebytes for example). There are several removal guides you might want to take a look at.

Here is a link to one of the removal guides: StartSavin Removal Guide.

You might try to reset the Firefox browser settings by following the instructions found on this page: Reset Firefox as this often solves a lot of different problems.

Hopefully these tools help you out.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder Linux:

  • Ubuntu Unity {web link}
  • Xfce: Applications Menu category sections
  • options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment

Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good add / pop-up blocker.
