Add-on to run a program instead of save. FF v. 30.0

I am running Firefox 30.0 on Windows Vista Home Premium, Version 6.0, Build 6002, Service Pack 2. I am looking for an add-on, or perhaps an option within Firefox that will allow me to RUN a download instead of saving it, similar in concept to what IE does.

I've attempted some add-ons before, but they were not compatible with FF v30.0. What can I do to run a download instead of save it?

Thank you, Bill

A program which is downloaded is still saved (in IE too), Firefox just doesn't offer the Run option as a default feature.

How about this? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/opendownload-10902/

Make sure you read the reviews, especially the one about not changing the preset downloads folder.
