what is the name of this icon and how do I add it?
Too bad that I cannot attach a very small screen shot of this icon; that would go a long way to help you identify it for me. <hmm>??
At any rate, I have two different profiles I use, and one has an toolbar icon (applet-addon-thingy) that I find useful and would like to add to the other profile. The applet "magically" appeared in the upgrade to FF30. Its function is nearly a replacement for the old Menu bar, including items like Help (absent in the Australis menu icon!). The applet's first two items are: 'New Tab' and 'New Private Window'; there are two columns of menu items, that last one in column two is 'Help'.
The appearance of the icon: a grey firefox-fox, and a little triangle to the right indicating a 'pull-down'.
I cannot find this icon in my add-ons/plugins lists, so I am guessing it is NOT an add-on, but rather native FF applet.
My goal: add this same functional applet to my other profile.
Again, I could make this far easier if I could include a bitmap attachment, but.... I guess not.

Note that you can place the Firefox menu button on the Tab bar to have shown as the previously version of the Firefox App menu button and give it a (orange) background color.

Sorry, the initial question form doesn't allow attachments, but you can reply to this thread and attach the image.
Do both of your profiles have the Classic Theme Restorer extension and, if so, are they both on the same version of it?
To expand on my question, what you're describing sounds similar to the old "orange Firefox button" menu from Firefox 4-28 on Windows. I think the most likely explanation for having that is Classic Theme Restorer, but I'm not sure why you would have it on one profile but not the other. You could grab some screen shots of its Options dialog for comparison. (This is accessible from the Add-ons page, Extensions section.)
Hey jscher2000! Thanks for the speedy response. And you figured it out.
I never have fully explored Classic Theme Restorer, I think maybe I added during the FF 29 update, when the appearance changed so dramatically. (What a pain that was, but now I am acclimating to the new interface, and I can grant -- it was an improvement. But having the grey fox icon definitely improves the improvement -- now I can fully forgo the old menu bar.) Maybe it's time to review Classic Theme Restorer and get to know it! :->
FWIW: I did attach the screen shot.
And to answer your other question -- since the difference was due to one profile not having the Classic Theme Restorer add-on, then there would be no icon.
One profile is for technical work, the other is for surfing the net; each has different requirements & different add-ons.
All the best!
