I have xp and it seems that tbird is running very slow ,if at all. I have unistalled and reinstalled, hasn't helped much.What next?

I can run tbird on another imap XP machine and it runs fine. When I uninstall and reinstall tbird runs OK for a while but then slows and then quits all together. I've unistalled twice but not help. What now?
