I need to rename or delete some of my inbox folders on Thunderbird. However, every time I do I get a message telling me there are conflicting directory issues or something and it won't delete the folder. I work at a church and am using their email through Thunderbird.

what is the exact message? "there are conflicting directory issues or something" is just not enough to guess what your issue is.

Here is the exact text of my error message when trying to delete an inbox folder:

"The current command did not succeed. The account server for gary@cccprinceton.org responded [CANNOT] Renaming not supported across conflicting directory permissions."

that message while appearing in a Thunderbird dialog is coming from the mail server at cccprinceton.org

My guess is the mail server does not really support renaming of folders. (it might only be folders with contents like another folder or mail. It might be able to rename or delete empty folders.

Do the folders have mail in them, or sub folders?
