I have some folders that I no longer need. When I try to delete them I get this message: The current command did not success. The mail server for account XXXXXX responded: [CANNOT} Renaming not supported across conflicting directory permissions.

WHat does this mean?

Chosen solution

I think it must be an IMAP account, and when you delete a folder it means a request is sent from Thunderbird to the server to delete the unwanted folder.

Various computer systems use different rules for filenames. Your server may have a bug, or it may in deleting the folder have generated a name that already exists or is not permitted. It's hard to tell.

It may be easiest to go to your email provider's website, login to your webmail there and delete the offending folder that way.
