Recently some sort of male-ware has been popping up windows when I make a secondary tab or click on a news item or some such. Also getting a small ad video in the lower right corner. These appear to happen separately. I followed the steps set forth in your help section. Downloaded Malwarebytes, ran it, still having the problem. Reset computer to a prev date. Still having the problem. Pop-up window comes up with firefox logo in the corner. Takes too long to load, I generally close it before I can see what the heck it really is. Popping up a lot tho and really becoming a problem. Please help. Thank you Tracy Lilly

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of. I have realized that malwarebytes is on the list, but try others. If push comes to shove, you may be forced to either: A) (Do this first) UNINSTALL FIREFOX WARNING: THIS WILL DELETE ALL OF YOUR FIREFOX INFORMATION!!!!! THERE MAY BE A TROJAN HORSE HIDDEN IN YOUR FIREFOX DATA AS SOME VIRUSES TARGET SPECIFIC WEB BROWSERS!

B) Take your computer to a specialist. They will know what to do, because this seems to be a malware problem, not Firefox problem.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run several or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Hitman pro found a Trojan on my computer and fixed it. Running well now. Thank you very much

FYI when I tried to use the ESET online scanner, a window popped up to download and run the software. When I moved the curser to the download hotlink, an ad kept popping up to prevent clicking on it. Needless to say, I didn't use it.

Good news. But don't just stop with Hitman, use other programs also.
