I just upgraded my PC from XP to Windows 7 and can no longer login to my metrolist site. I uninstalled firefox, disabled all add-ons and then reinstalled java 7.0 and ActiveX 13.0 and can now finally login to the main Metrolist page (prospector.metrolist.net). However, once inside the Metrolist site when I click on the Realist property history link (http://mls.realist.com/index.jsp) the webpage successfully opens in a new browser tab, but hangs for about 4 minutes until I get this;

Server Failure Error Occured while getting PrefernceGroups (event.noncachedPreferenceGroupCodes), Fault: Send failed

Chosen solution

Usually the server sends a content type of text/html for .jsp pages, same as PHP and .html pages, so it shouldn't be necessary to do anything special.

IE, Firefox, and Chrome use 3 different flavors of the Flash player (ActiveX, plugin, and Pepper, respectively). The fact that none of them works suggests something at the system level, maybe a firewall, is affecting all of them. It's mysterious that Safari works, though. That is not consistent with a system level problem.

Puzzling.

I'm very surprised not to see any other references in a Google search for the error message text. It seems to be something rather unique.

Why are you using the "ActiveX hosting plugin"? I can appreciate that the author tried not to create a big security hole in Firefox, but still, unless it is critical to your work and appropriately isolated, I am nervous about it.

Anyway, when I visit the Realist link it takes about 20 seconds for Flash to display the login form. I think the error message you get would only be relevant after logging in.

Jscher2000, I added the ActiveX controls after 1.5 hours of changing every possible Java and Windows setting that I could find. It was a suggestion from another forum.

I got the link to work in Safari, but Chrome, IE9 and Firefox still don't open it. Can I change the .aspx or .jsp extensions in Windows somehow? It works find on my XP machine so I compared the settings and they are the same, as far as I can tell?

Jscher2000 Brilliant! I have spent 7 years with XP and reluctantly updated to Windows 7. After 2 days I am getting used to it and liking how fast it is. So for those with .jsp and .aspx browser issues in Windows 7, here is a possible solution. Click Start \ Control Panel \ Windows Firewall \ Allow a program or feature through the Windows Firewall. Make sure Chrome and Firefox are there, If not, then click on Change Setting (top) and then below the window click the Allow Another Program box. Search for Mozilla and Chrome and allow them. Done!
