How do we get rid of the AVAST ad?

For several years we only had the free Avast service. Then for three years we bought the next grade up. Last December, we let the purchased grade lapse. But we are still getting, repeatedly, an ad asking if we want to renew the service. As a result of a phone call with Avast this morning, I became aware that the ad is not generated by Avast but by Firefox. PLEASE remove this ad from our computer. Sue Freseman

Please provide a screenshot of that ad.

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

That is a pop-up window. Not using Firefox. You stopped using AVAST but did not remove the program, or one of its watch dogs.

Check the programs that are on your computer Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. (Mac: Open the "Applications" folder) Go thru the list and remove AVAST. Then reboot.
