thunderbird does not launch when it is connected to a wifi or lan

I am using ubuntu 14.04. I am using the thunderbirf for my official mail id.

below are the details of the thunderbird.

My problem can be described in following steps.

Problem 1: 1. When i am connected to my office wifi network via wifi or lan i face following 2. I click on the thunderbird icon on my launcher. 3. it blinks for a couple of minutes and stops blinking without actually launching the thunderbird. 4. then i try to launch it again twice or thrice. 5. but it does not appear. 6. then i disconnect the network (wifi or lan) 7. immidiate I see thunderbird getting launched without my clicking on thunderbird icon.

What happens when you start Thunderbird from a shell prompt?

When I run from shell with all above conditions following thing happens

j0053@j0053-hp-probook-4420s:~$ thunderbird

at this point it stops, no thunderbird is launched but the command is still in execution with a curser blinking

then when i disconnect my network cable or wifi the thunderbird gets launched after exact 3-4 minutes

Would it launch after 3-4 min also when you don't disconnect the network?

What happens when you start TB in safe mode from the command line?
Use the -safe-mode option for this.
